World MMA Awards tonight LIVE on Versus.com
The World MMA Awards will be broadcast live tonight on Versus.com at 10 p.m. ET. The award show will hand out honors for Fighter of the Year, Fight of the Year, Knockout of the Year, and many others. If you are unable to watch the awards tonight, be sure to check your programming schedule in early January. Versus cable network will air an edited version of the awards.

UFC president Dana White has released his second video blog leading up to UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva. White goes off on Sherdog in the the video. At the center of the controversy are White’s comments regarding how popular mixed martial arts will be in the next ten years. While White’s comments may be optimistic, there is no need for Jake Rossen of Sherdog to talk down on the sport. Dan Hardy Talks Upcoming Bout With GSP
Top welterweight contender Dan Hardy talked with media about his upcoming title match with Georges St. Pierre which is scheduled for March 27 in Newark, NJ. Hardy believes that he has the edge against GSP if the fight remains standing. He also goes on to say, “I am Georges St. Pierre’s kryptonite.”

UFC releases Burns, Nelson, Garcia, and Schoonover
The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced today that they have released four fighters. Edgar Garcia, Kevin Burns, and Shane Nelson are all coming off of consecutive losses. TUF alum Darrill Schoonover (10-1) suffered the first loss of his career against James McSweeney at The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights Finale. Schoonover has also been recently called back to duty in Iraq.

Marcus Jones burst onto the scene during his stint on The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights. Jones was an intriguing character. He was a lovable giant who turned into a madman when he entered the octagon.
