Matt Hamill dislocates shoulder vs. Jon Jones

Matt Hamill scored a  victory at last night’s Ultimate Fighter Finale after Jon Jones was disqualified due to an illegal elbow strike. After the bout, Hamill was in obvious pain as he grasped his shoulder and seemed mentally defeated in the interview.

Initial reports suggested that Hamill may have suffered a broken clavicle after a takedown from Jones, but sources close to Hamill’s camp told MMAjunkie.com that Hamill was just taken to the hospital to have his shoulder placed back into socket.

“He’s a little bit out of it, but he’ll be alright,” the source told MMAjunkie.

A lot of people are asking to see a rematch between the two, but a rematch makes no sense. Jones clearly dominated from the opening bell and Hamill seemed to do all but concede defeat. He did not appear as a man who wanted any more of Jones.

It would not be surprising, and it should be expected, that the UFC treats this as a win when determining Jones’ next opponent. He should not have a step back in performance. Jones should receive another tough test to show he is constantly improving and living up to his unbelievable potential.
