Following the stunning announcement on Saturday that Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz would be the coaches for the next season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series, we now have a set date. The latest season of TUF will start production next month and air on Spike TV starting March 31st. The season is going to showcase middleweight fighters.
This is the second time that Liddell and Ortiz have been coaches. Liddell was a coach on the innaguaral season of the show against fellow Hall of Famer Randy Couture and Ortiz was a coach on season three as he faced off against Frank Shamrock. The two fighters will meet for the third time after the show is done airing. Liddell has won the previous two meetings; one by KO in round 2, one by TKO in round 3.
There has been a handful of notable fighters who were at the tryouts. Two of the bigger names were Jason Lambert (23-11) and Nick Thompson (38-12). UFC veteran David “The Crow” Loiseau is rumored to be on the show as well the promising prospect Bryan “The Beast Baker and Xtreme Couture’s Robert Drysdale.
Stay tuned for more info on TUF 11.
UPDATE: Robert Drysdale will not be competing in this season of The Ultimate Fighter. A source at Xtreme Couture told me that a tumor was discovered in Drysdale’s head during the medicals. Drysdale has traveled to Brazil to get everything worked out and he is finally back in the states relaxing.
