Dustin Hazelett replaces Carlos Condit at UFC 108

Earlier today it was reported that Carlos Condit would be forced to withdraw from his UFC 108 bout with Paul “Semtex” Daley after injuring his hand and a replacement for Condit in the co-main event has already been announced. Dustin “McLovin” Hazelett will step in for “The Natural Born Killer” to face Daley.

MMAWeekly was the first to report:

Multiple sources informed MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday that Hazelett will step in for an injured Carlos Condit to face Paul Daley in the co-main event of UFC 108, which takes place Jan. 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Hazelett, 23, has not fought since he suffered an ACL tear training for a bout with Ben Saunders at UFC 96 in March. After falling short to Josh Koscheck at UFC 82, he proved a serious threat to the division with two slick submission victories over Josh Burkman and Tamdan McCrory in 2008.

Hazelett was supposed to face Karo Parisyan at UFC 106, but Parisyan withdrew from the fight the day before weigh-ins. UFC commissioner Dana White was not pleased with the situation and he kicked Parisyan out of the organization; Hazelett still received his full pay for the event.

Hazelett hopes to defeat Daley and advance his win streak to three. This will be no easy task. Daley is one of the divisions top strikers and he is riding a three-win fight streak of his own and he has won 10 of his last 12 fights. While Condit’s departure seemed to be yet another big loss for the fight card, Hazelett is a very deserving replacement who will put on a show.

Here is the updated UFC 108 fight card:
