Ariel Helwani of MMA Fanhouse has some exciting news today. According to his report:
A CBS spokesperson informed FanHouse on Tuesday that the network will broadcast its fifth MMA event next year, and that it will most likely air during the month of the April.
While no specific date or venue has been made official, Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson have agreed to compete on the card. Their opponents have yet to be signed.
Henderson was recently signed by Strikeforce and his addition will really bolster the organization. Fedor Emelianenko is a great fighter, but he doesn’t have the appeal to your general American audience.
Hendo on the other hand is a former Olympic wrestler for the United States and he was recently a coach on The Ultimate Fighter reality series as a coach for Team USA. He will bring in a bigger audience to CBS and he is a much more marketable fighter.
Strikeforce continues to put on excellent shows and the exposure for the sport on national television is great.
