Takanori Gomi (31-5) is one of the newest additions to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s lightweight division. Gomi is a former Shooto welterweight champion and was the lightweight champion in Pride FC.

Nick Diaz (21-7) defeated DREAM welterweight grand prix champion Marius Zaromskis (13-4) at last night’s Strikeforce: Miami event. Diaz put on a striking clinic to dismantly the Lithuanian on his way to capturing the vacant Strikeforce gold.
On the night’s undercard, Jay Hieron (19-4) scored a unanimous decision victory over Joe Riggs (32-11) in what many thought was a match that would determine the number one contender to the welterweight strap. That does not appear to be the case.
