Urijah Faber is coming off an impressive victory at this past weekend’s WEC 46 against Raphael Assuncao. It was the former champions first fight in seven months. He had been out rehabbing a broken hand.

Following the bout, Faber and current featherweight champion Jose Aldo faced off in the cage.

“I believe that is my belt, and that I am going to take it, and that’s what great fights are,” Faber said. “It’s just basically two guys that are top dogs, two guys who are alpha males, and dedicated to their art, and looking forward to a fight.”

The two will fight later in 2010, but the date is currently not known. Many believe the bout will be World Extreme Cagefighting’s first Pay-Per View event.

Urijah Faber already has his sights set on the fight, and a date in mind.

“I would say mid-May would probably be ideal for me,” Faber said. “Mid-May, maybe late April, that’s kind of close, but I feel great. I don’t really take time off. I’m ready to fight, I’m ready to get this belt, to continue to build my name, and blow up MMA and the light weight classes and the WEC.”

What is going on here? The senior set missing their ballroom dancing lessons in order that they might cheer on their favorite cage fighter. Two words; Uriah Faber. This supremely gifted athlete is the total package: Laser focus, smart, charismatic,an almost Zen aura, and did we mention cant take your eyes off him looks; just ask my 5o something girlfriend. He is truly the Ali of his generation. If anyone can raise the sport of cage fighting to pay per view status it is Faber. My girlfriend and I have our forty bucks out and I have a hunch that we aren't the only silver hairs. Too weird , huh ?
