A bout between two top welterweights Jon Fitch (21-3) and Thiago Alves (16-6) has been added to UFC 111. The long-awaited rematch between Fitch and Alves is the last official bout added to the fight card.
Fitch and Alves were initially set to settle the score back at UFC 107 in December, but Alves was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering a torn posterior cruciate ligament during training.
UFC 111 is set to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The event is headlined by a welterweight title fight between Georges St. Pierre and Dan Hardy. Frank Mir and Shane Carwin will also compete for the interim UFC heavyweight strap in the nights co-main event.
Sources close to MMAjunkie.com also have informed the website that a one hour “UFC Prelim” special will air on Spike TV for the event.
