Rhadi Ferguson was a Judo Olympic alternate in 2000 and Olympian in 2004 and the former judoka has revealed to ProMMAnow.com that he will try his hand at mixed martial arts.

On top of his judo credentials, Ferguson is also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blackbelt under Ricardo Liborio of American Top Team. He has also an Abu Dhabi veteran.

Ferguson is currently training at American Top Team, where he has worked extensively with top heavyweight prospect Bobby Lashley, but he has also said he’d like to not limit himself to just one camp.

“I’ll train a little bit everywhere… I believe in getting the best training possible for me,” said Ferguson. “That means I will spend time training at American Top Team for sure. My friend, Dave Camarillo is out at AKA, I’ll probably go out there for a week or two. I’ll go see Lloyd Irvin for a week or two. I may go see Ed Clay for a week or two… I believe in creating positive relationships and a great network so you can train anywhere.”

Rhadi Ferguson is an incredibly powerful guy, and it should be interesting to see how he transitions to mixed martial arts. Fighting seems to run in his genes as he is the cousin of YouTube sensation and current UFC fighter, Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson.

There is no set date for Ferguson’s mixed martial arts debut, but he has said he would like to fight some time in July.

”I need some time to get myself in shape… I’m pretty rusty to say the least,” said Ferguson. When asked what he hoped to accomplish in mixed martial arts, the doctor simply said, “I want to win.”
