Undefeated lightweight contender Gray Maynard (9-0) was expected to get a title shot against B.J. Penn if he could get past Nate Diaz at UFC Fight Night 20. Maynard won a split decision, but then the Zuffa brass announced that the next title shot at 155-pounds would go to Frankie Edgar (11-1).
Many would be upset for being passed up, but Maynard has maintained a level head and will be focused on his next opponent.
Steve Cofield of Yahoo! Sports caught up with “The Bully” before Strikeforce: Miam to discuss being passed up for the fight. Maynard acknowledged that his time will come if he just keeps on winning.
