Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (8-3) was scheduled to be on the first UFC on Versus card. Unfortunately, Johnson was forced to withdraw from his bout with John “Doomsday” Howard (13-4) due to a knee injury. Pro MMA Now was the first to report the injury.
The news has since been confirmed by Johnson’s manager.
This was a fight that was supposed to go down when Howard was a UFC newcomer. Howard was offered a fight with Johnson, but he turned it down because he was looking for some more time to develop.
Howard is coming off of six straight victories — three decisions and three (T)KO’s, while Johnson suffered a submission loss to Josh Koscheck at UFC 106.
No replacement has been named for “Rumble” Johnson, so stay tuned to CagePages.com for the latest information.
