Cheick Kongo signs new six-fight deal with the UFC

Cheick Guillaume Ouedraogo — better known amongst mixed martial arts fans as Cheick Kongo — has signed a new six-fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, according to a report from Fighter’s Only Magazine. The heavyweight is 15-6-1 — 8-4 in the UFC — and he is coming off of a win against Paul Buentello at UFC on Versus 1. BJ Penn vs. Frankie Edgar II set for UFC 118 in Boston

BJ Penn lost his lightweight title after a lazy and uninspired performance at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. He will get his champ of redemption soon, rather than later. BJ Penn says rematch with Frankie Edgar is in the works

Former UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn says that the UFC has contacted him for a rematch with new champion Frankie Edgar who defeated him at “UFC 112: Invincible.” Penn also told 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C. that he expected the rematch soon. “I think the next three months, four months at the most,” Penn said. If the rematch takes place in that time frame, Edgar vs. Penn II could potentially headline the UFC’s first show in Boston on August 28. An immediate rematch would be the UFC’s best bet. ‘UFC 112: Invincible’ Medical Suspensions

The medical suspensions for last Saturday’s “UFC 112: Invincible” fight card have been announced. Please note, as there is no sanctioning athletic commission for overseas events, the UFC acts as it’s own sanctioning body, requiring the same strict medical requirements as the NSAC, and uses the Unified Rules for Mixed Martial Arts.
