Cheick Guillaume Ouedraogo — better known amongst mixed martial arts fans as Cheick Kongo — has signed a new six-fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, according to a report from Fighter’s Only Magazine. The heavyweight is 15-6-1 — 8-4 in the UFC — and he is coming off of a win against Paul Buentello at UFC on Versus 1. BJ Penn lost his lightweight title after a lazy and uninspired performance at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. He will get his champ of redemption soon, rather than later. Penn get an immediate rematch against the man who took his gold, Frankie Edgar, at UFC 118 in Boston, Massachusetts. UFC 118 is scheduled for August 28. Strikeforce: Nashville takes place this weekend and will be nationally televised on CBS. The main card is a championship triple-header that will see the middleweight, lightweight, and light-heavyweight titles on the line. Saturday’s event will take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and will be Strikeforce’s Tennessee debut. On October 24, 2009, unbeaten UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida and challenger Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua engaged in a five round war that divided the mixed martial arts world when the unanimous decision verdict was rendered in Machida’s favor. But now, these 205-pound superstars will settle the score once and for all in the main event of UFC 113, and both fighters are vowing to take matters out of the judges’ hands, and into their own.

Former UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn says that the UFC has contacted him for a rematch with new champion Frankie Edgar who defeated him at “UFC 112: Invincible.” Penn also told 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C. that he expected the rematch soon. “I think the next three months, four months at the most,” Penn said. If the rematch takes place in that time frame, Edgar vs. Penn II could potentially headline the UFC’s first show in Boston on August 28. An immediate rematch would be the UFC’s best bet.
