Heavyweight Mike Russow was awarded “Knockout of the Night” at “UFC 114: Rampage vs. Evans” after delivering an astonishing come-from-behind knockout to highly hyped Todd Duffee after being dominated for the first two rounds. Russow showed his granite chin after he ate shot after shot from Duffee, but in a moment of desperation in the final frame, Russow connected a brilliant right-hand that dropped Duffee immediately to the mat. The long-awaited grudge match between Rampage Jackson and Rashad Evans finally took place over the weekend at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Forrest Griffin sidelined until October
Former UFC light-heavyweight champion and fan-favorite Forrest Griffin was forced to pull out of a bout scheduled for this Saturday against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder earlier this month. According to his trainer Jimmy Gifford, the surgery will keep Griffin away from training for approximately 12 weeks and out of the cage until September at the earliest. “He saw a specialist in Los Angeles and had it worked on,” Gifford said. “It was minor surgery, nothing crazy. Dana White announced at a May 24th press conference that the UFC will be opening a Canadian HQ in Toronto. Former Canadian football league president Tom Wright will be heading operations north of the border. Riding a 2-fight win steak, Amir Sadollah hopes to re-energize his short career with a win at UFC 114 this Saturday. Sadollah will face off against Dong Hyun Kim, a man who boasts one of the cleanest records in the UFC.
