Paul Daley is ‘done’ in the UFC; wont fight in the octagon again

Paul “Semtex” Daley lost a decision to Josh Koscheck, but he lost even more after the fight. Not only did he lose the fight, a title shot, and a stint as the next coach on The Ultimate Fighter, but Semtex lost his career in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

It may sound like a sad story at first, but Semtex got what he was asking for. After getting dominated for three rounds, Daley threw a sucker punch after the bell and hit Koscheck with a clean left hook.

Here is a video of the incident:

“He’s done. I don’t [care] if he’s the best 170-pounder in the world. He’s never coming back,” said UFC president Dana White at the post-fight press conference. “There’s no excuse for that. You never hit a guy like that after the bell.”

The decision to cut Daley and ban him from the UFC may be a bit harsh, but following the post-fight brawl at Strikeforce: Shields vs. Henderson the decision makes sense.

You can’t have guys jeopardizing the integrity of the sport and giving it a bad name. Hopefully Paul Daley can find a road to redemption and cause Dana White to reconsider his immediate decision that was made in the heat of the moment.

Josh Koscheck said on ESPN’s MMA Live, “I hope the UFC gives Daley a second chance… I kinda egged him on.”
