Vitor Belfort to fight for middleweight title in November

UFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort has been out of action since early February when he underwent shoulder surgery that forced him out of his title fight with current champ Anderson Silva at ‘UFC 112: Invincible.’ As a result of Belfort’s absence, we got the terrible Silva-Maia fight. Belfort has been recovering and will likely be back in action in November, according to his manager. Tim Silvia will fight 5-time world’s strongest man champion. Mariusz Pudzianowski, on Friday night in Mass. the Moosin: God of Martial Arts event will air live on pay-per-view. WEC & cage announcer Joe Martinez part ways

World Extreme Cagefighting has decided to part ways with their longtime cage announcer Joe Martinez. Martinez is also the announcer for Golden Boy’s weekly Spanish production “Solo Boxeo Tecate.” His other commitments played a part in the depature from the WEC. “I was more than willing to work around the possible conflicts,” said Martinez. “But another main factor was my work within other areas of combat sports. Phil Baroni returning at UFC 118 in Boston

The “New York Bad Ass” Phil Baroni will be fighting for his roster spot in the Ultimate Fighting Championship at UFC 118, which will take place in August as the UFC’s first trip to Boston, Massachusetts. One of Strikeforce’s top lightweight prospects, Lyle “Fancy Pants” Beerbohm, advanced his record to an impressive 14-0 at this past weekend’s ‘Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery’ event. Fancy Pants earned a split decision win over Shaolin Ribeiro (20-4). Strikeforce women’s middleweight champion Cris Cyborg learned that her next title defense would be against veteran fighter Jan Finney at a June 26th event in San Jose, California that is being co-promoted by Strikeforce and M-1 Global.
