Initially, Shamrock was supposed to slug it out with nearly retired Mark Coleman, coming off of a brutal pummeling via Randy Couture. Jay Silva in for Paulo Filho at Bellator 18

Top-ranked middleweight Paulo Filho (19-1) was forced to withdraw from his Bellator 18 fight with Hector Lombard (24-2-1) after the bureaucracy involved in getting his visa held him back. On his Twitter account, SI.com’s Josh Gross first reported that Jay Silva (5-3) would be Filho’s replacement. Bellator has since confirmed the news and Silva will fight Hector Lombard Thursday in Monroe, La. Silva was cut from the UFC in January of this year after going 0-2 in the organization. Lyoto Machida may need surgery for orbital bone fracture

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida lost his belt Saturday to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. It was the first time that fans who have only been exposed to Machida in the UFC got to see him eat devastating punches on his way to the first loss of his career. UFC 113 brings in $3.27 million at the gate; 17,647 in attendance

The UFC made it’s third trip to the Bell Centre in Montreal for this past weekend’s ‘UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun II.’ It’s third trip was not as successful as the previous two in the arena, but the organization still had a strong numbers for live gate and attendance. According to MMAjunkie.com: The UFC’s third trip to Montreal’s Bell Centre wasn’t quite as lucrative as the promotion’s first two events in the building, but Saturday night’s UFC 113 event still drew a reported crowd of 17,647 attendees. Matt Mitrione: Kimbo ‘dug his right thumb in my left eye’ at UFC 113

Kimbo Slice fought his last fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship at this past weekend’s ‘UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun II’ event. Early in the bout, Slice was in danger when he was caught in a dangerous triangle from Matt Mitrione. Slice eventually worked his way out of the submission, but a look back shows that he used some dirty tactics. Shogun says he’ll fight Anderson Silva.

Newly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauricio Rua, declared on ESPN radio, that he would be open to stepping into the octagon with middle weight phenom, Anderson Silva.  The comments came almost immediately after Rua’s KO victory of Llyoto Machida at UFC 113.  Shogun’s “challenge” if you can call it that, comes as a breath of fresh air, into a UFC where the motto seems to be, “we don’t make freinds fight freinds”. Big payoffs for UFC 113 victors.

Not only did Shogun Rua get to leave with the light heavyweight title, and the right to say he slayed the Dragon, but he has a nice deposit for his bank account after his KO win over Llyoto Machida.  After being deemed “knockout of the night”, Rua’s KO of incumbent champion Llyoto Machida, earned him a knockout bonus of $65,000.
