Strikeforce invades the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California tonight for an event live on Showtime. “Strikeforce: Los Angeles” is headlined by a catchweight bout between Robbie Lawler and Renato “Babalu” Sobral. Also on the card is Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos vs. Marius Zaramoskis, Tim Kennedy vs. Trevor Prangley, and Conor Heun vs. K.J. Noons. Former middleweight champ Rich Franklin knocked out the Ice man Chuck Liddell in UFC 115′s main event. Although the fight ended late into the first round, Franklin battled through the agony of a broken arm suffered in the opening moments when Liddell threw a hard sidekick which Franklin blocked. The results are in, and UFC 115 Lidell v Franklin was one for the record books.  The main event of course was Lidell facing off against Rich Franklin, a bout of two of the UFC’s most proven veterans.  Franklin (28-5) and Lidell (21-8) have had two very impressive careers, and look to add another notch to their belt. No matter the outcome of his upcoming political elections in Mother Russia, Heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko and his camp insist that it will not affect his fighting career. The rumors started on MiddleEasy.com, with a non-credible individual claiming Fedor would retire upon winning the election and becoming a member of Russia’s Parliament. Dan “The Upgrade” Lauzon has been released from the UFC after he suffered a second straight loss, according a report from the Boston Herald. Joe Cavallaro, a friend and business partner, confirmed the news. The promoter of World Championship Fighting had Lauzon under a promotional agreement when he fought locally and has helped the East Bridgewater native along the way. “His contract was terminated.
