Urijah Faber dropping to 135; will face Takeya Mizugaki

MMA Weekly is reporting that former featherweight champion and World Extreme Cagefighting star Urijah Faber is making the drop to 135-pounds. Welcoming him to the bantamweight division will be heavy handed Takeya Mizugaki. The former WEC featherweight champion will make the move down to 135lbs for his next fight on August 18 as he faces Japanese fighter Takeya Mizugaki in the WEC. Melvin Guillard vs. Jeremy Stephens at UFC 119 in Indy

Following his TKO victory over Waylon Lowe at UFC 114, Melvin Guillard (24-8-2) asked for a match with Jeremy Stephens (17-5)  in hopes that a victory would catapult him into title contention. “The Young Assasin” got the win over Lowe after a vicious knee to the body — the second win by body shit in his UFC career — and he will now get his wish of a match-up with “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens. ‘Cro Cop’ to comeback at UFC 115

At one point in his career, Mirko Filipovich was known as the most dangerous and vicious striker in MMA. ‘Cro Cop’, as he goes by, will now try to bring himself back to that point at UFC 115 against Patrick Barry. Fighter loses ear in Japanese match

Shigeyuki Uchiyama was winning a fight in Japan against his opponent Masaya “J-Taro” Takita before things went terribly wrong. Despite controlling much of the match, Uchiyama suffered a loss in the bout and on his body. During a double takedown in the ring, the top of Uchiyama’s ear was torn off after getting caught in the ropes. Joe Rogan wants Overreem and Diaz in UFC

When asked which fighters he wanted to see compete in the UFC, Rogan had his answer on hand. Allistair Overeem and Nick Diaz were the two first choices of the UFC’s colorful commentator. Rogan stated that Overeem, being the best striker in the heavyweight division, along with Nick Diaz, one of the worlds all around best fighters, would compliment the UFC nicely.

UFC signs light-heavyweight Ricardo Romero

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has made an addition to their roster with the signing of light-heavyweight Ricardo Romero, according to his manager, Mike Constantino. The report was confirmed by MMAjunkie.com. Romero’s deal is for four-fights. “This is a dream come true!” Romero said today in a release. The former Ring of Combat light-heavyweight and heavyweight champion is expected to make his promotional debut on a card this summer.
