After the fight, Sonnen failed a drug test and tested positive for steroids — he is now facing a one-year ban by the California State Athletic Commission. Could this be the end of the road for the top contender?

Paul Daley’s Strikeforce debut will be against Scott Smith

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Paul Daley’s foolish post-fight antics got him booted from the UFC. For those who don’t remember, Daley sucker punched Josh Koscheck after the bell at UFC 113. A lot of trash talk led up to the bout and Koscheck dominated from the get go — this ultimately led to Daley’s frustration. Now, Daley is on his road to redemption. Daley has had two fights since being kicked out of the organization in May. “Semtex” submitted Daniel Acacio at Impact FC 2 and then defeated Jorge Masvidal via unanimous decision at Shark Fights 13 in September. He signed with Strikeforce shortly [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s lightweight title will be on the line, when Frankie Edgar (13-1) faces off against number one contender Gray Maynard (10-0) at UFC 125. Edgar’s second title defense will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on New Year’s Day. Edgar and Maynard will be facing each other for the second time in their careers. In their first meeting in April of 2008 at UFC Fight Night 13, Maynard used his wrestling to dominate Edgar on way to a convincing 30-27 decision victory on all three judges cards. It is the only blemish on Edgar’s record. [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

One of the UFC’s newest heavyweights, Sean McCorkle, made his promotional debut at this past weekend’s UFC 119: Mir vs. Cro Cop event in his hometown of Indianapolis. McCorkle (10-0) put his undefeated record on the line when he faced off against one of the toughest men in mixed martial arts, Mark Hunt. McCorkle made quick work in his first UFC fight as he finished the “Super Samoan” via straight arm bar in round one. Reinhardt Out Of WEC 51, Garza Steps In

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

It wasn’t too long ago that Jason Reinhardt was confident in his preparation for his WEC 51 bout against undefeated Chinese fighter Tie Quan “The Mongolian Wolf” Zhang. “I’ve got so much motivation for this fight it’s incredible. Everything’s on the line in this fight. It all comes down to this moment. When Monte told me Zhang was undefeated, I thought, ‘What an opportunity to beat China’s best and send him back to China to re-evaluate his career.’ I’ve been through a lot of crap over the last two and a half years. I know what I’m capable of.  I [...]

Jeremy Stephens: No Way I Lost That Fight

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

UFC 119 was a night full of decisions — controversial ones at that. The pay-per views opening bout was expected to be an exciting stand up war between Jeremy Stephens and Melvin Guillard. The bout was anything but that. Guillard danced around, while Stephens looks hypnotized by his opponents movement. It was a tough bout to score, but in the end Guillard came out the victor. Many fans did not agree with the decision, however, it was not too shocking and the fight truly could have gone either way. One man who was particularly upset with the outcome was Stephens. [...]
