Speaking with MMACanada.net, Wanderlei Silva — who has formed a recent rivalry with middleweight contender Chael Sonnen — commented that he believes Sonnen’s supsension for a positive steroid test is too long.
“(Chael Sonnen) is one year out. But that’s tough; a year is too much time. I agree with what Dana said, they took his job for a year, that’s terrible. This guy has a family and this guy needs to work. I think 6 month’s is ok; a year is too much time. (Steroids) is wrong but you can’t take a job from a guy for a year. That’s not so good. That’s bad.”
We can’t speculate whether Sonnen will be back to his old form when he returns from suspension — if he does. Wanderlei has previously said he would like to fight Chris Leben and then Sonnen in his next fights. If all works out, perhaps “The Axe Murder” can get his wish and settle his beef with Sonnen in the cage.
