Medical Suspensions From UFC 121; Lesnar Out 6 Months

Thirteen fighters from Saturday’s “UFC 121: Lesnar vs. Velasquez” event have been issued medical suspensions by the California State Athletic Commission. Five of the thirteen fighters — former champ Brock Lesnar, Jake Shields, Diego Sanchez, Court McGee, and Patrick Cote — could be out for up to six months.

Lesnar lost his bout and the UFC heavyweight title in the first-round, when the new champ Cain Velasquez steamrolled through Lesnar. Velasquez earned the TKO victory after a relentless barrage of punches that dropped Lesnar four different times.

Here is the full list of medical suspensions:

Brock Lesnar: Suspended 180 days with no contact for 180 days due to possible eye injuries, though he can be cleared early by an ophthalmologist. 60-day suspension with no contact for 60 days due to a left-cheek laceration.
