The Time Is Ripe

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Like most fight perverts*, I’ve got a lot of love for the Japanese MMA scene.  Rich, rich history there.  I don’t have to tell you that.  I miss Pride.  I’m sure most people reading this do.  Are we allowed to get wistful about something so recent?  I think so.  Then again, I’m a naturally wistful guy.  Thinking about almost any of my former apartments can bring a single tear.  * I’m not implying anything sexual here.  But to most of the population, watching spotty internet feeds of Japanese MMA events at 4am is most definitely deviant behavior.  The point is, Japan’s glory days have [...]

MMA Black Friday Deals

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Clipped from: middleeasy.com (share this clip) Black Friday, the day people will wait in line for hours on end in the freezing cold so they can garner the same odds of getting one of the two TV’s on sale as being trampled to death. Why some people must display masochism at its finest to be thrifty for a decadent item is something I will never be able to comprehend. Fortunately, that’s not the case for us MMA fans, we have no superstore to camp in front of for hours, hoping that we can snatch shin protectors for cheap. In fact [...]

Gerald Harris Released From UFC

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

After every event, the UFC releases a few fighters from their roster. You can usually eyeball the situation and name a few guys who will get the axe, but every now and then you will get a surprise. It is not often that a guy who is 10-1 in his last 11 fights gets cut, however, Gerald Harris was not so lucky. The 17-3 middleweight went 3-1 in the octagon. It has been confirmed that Harris has been cut from the UFC. Harris scored an incredible knockout slam over Dave Branch at UFC 116, but fell short to Maiquel Falcao [...]

UFC 125 Co-Main Event Aldo vs. Grispi In Jeopardy

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Featherweight Jose Aldo was named the UFC featherweight champion after formerly being the WEC featherweight champion before the two organizations merged. Aldo was set to make his debut in the octagon on the UFC 125 card on New Year’s Day. News originally stated that Aldo was forced to withdraw from the bout: Unfortunate news from @HeavyMMA re: Jose Aldo off 1/1 UFC. I’ve confirmed the injury: a compacted vertebrae caused tingling in both arms. But ESPN’s Josh Gross says not so fast… the bout is just in jeopardy.

Since leaving the show, Main has distanced himself from Team Koscheck and has even joined Georges St-Pierre at Tristar Gym. Main does not want to be associated with Koscheck’s team and has some interesting words about his former coach.

I’ve been thinking lately about all that I have for which to be thankful.  And in the process, I came across a few things that are cause for thanksgiving in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
