Hot Off The Press: Friday Morning Headlines

DETROIT – To hear UFC lightweight contender George Sotiropoulos (13-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) tell it, there’s really no controversy at all. Sure, Sotiropoulos admits his combination of compression shorts, knee pads and ankle pads likely give him a little extra grip, but the Australian insists the material makes his limbs more susceptible to submission attacks, as well.

TOKYO — Bibiano Fernandes and Hiroyuki Takaya will get to settle their score on New Year’s Eve. Thursday, Fighting and Entertainment Group announced the first of its New Year’s Eve bouts for “Dynamite: The Power of Courage 2010,” revealing that Fernandes will make the second defense of his Dream featherweight title against Takaya. The bout is a rematch of the October 2009 Dream featherweight tournament final that decided the vacant crown.

“We have all had to watch Brock Lesnar fart around. That guy is an embarrassment. If he wasn’t in a cage he would still be running.”

Zuffa, parent company of the UFC and WEC, has sent internet giant Google a letter demanding it do more to combat online pirating of its content. In an email dated September 29th of this year, legal representatives of Zuffa wrote to Google notifying the company of “the infringement of Zuffa[’s] intellectual
property rights… in Google search results”.

I don’t know if I’m fighting him yet,” Mousasi said of Le Banner. “They haven’t confirmed. They asked me, and I said yes, so now if he said yes, the fight is on.”
