UFC 125 Co-Main Event Aldo vs. Grispi In Jeopardy

Featherweight Jose Aldo was named the UFC featherweight champion after formerly being the WEC featherweight champion before the two organizations merged. Aldo was set to make his debut in the octagon on the UFC 125 card on New Year’s Day.

News originally stated that Aldo was forced to withdraw from the bout:

Unfortunate news from @HeavyMMA re: Jose Aldo off 1/1 UFC. I’ve confirmed the injury: a compacted vertebrae caused tingling in both arms.

But ESPN’s Josh Gross says not so fast… the bout is just in jeopardy.

Aldo lost strength. His trainer made him take an MRI. News relayed to his management this morning. He’s out at least a month for therapy.

Hmm. Revise Aldo’s “out” to the fight’s in “jeopardy.” Aldo just told his management he will fight regardless. I’m not so sure that happens.

We will have to see how this all plays out for Jose Aldo. There isn’t a single MMA fan that was not looking forward to his debut in the UFC.
