Back in August, I wrote that the lightweight division had lost its luster.  My oh my, how things have changed.  What a difference two months makes.  Nowadays the lightweight division is looking like the deepest in the UFC.  Interesting matchups are limitless.  How did this happen in such a short time? Ryan Couture — son of UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture — was forced to withdraw from Strikeforce Challengers XII due to a staph infection. Decision machine Jon Fitch has not been given a title shot despite grinding out five-straight victories. In fact, Fitch has only lost once in his last twenty three fights and that was to current 170-pound king Georges St-Pierre. The only reason that Fitch has not received his rematch with GSP yet is, well, because he is an incredibly boring fighter. Fitch’s last seven victories have come by way of decision. The Ultimate Fighting Championship is looking to expand and do more international shows in 2011 and it appears that after thirteen years the UFC will be returning to Brazil. According to GRACIEMAG.com sources, Ultimate Brazil will be held in November of next year, in Rio de Janeiro. Dana White and company have already approved of the venue for Ultimate Brazil. It will be held at the HSBC Arena, in Barra da Tijuca.
