AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

“UFC Fight Night 23: UFC Fight for the Troops 2″ took a big hit today when headliner Kenny Florian was forced to withdraw from his highly anticipated bout against Evan Dunham that was set to headline the January 22nd card. Sources to MMAjunkie.com that Florian received an undisclosed injury during his training for the upcoming bout. With Florian vs. Dunham now off of the card, there is no bout currently on the card that would excite fans as a headliner. One idea would be to promote the UFC 125 main card bout between Clay Guida and Takanori Gomi to the UFC [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: Strikeforce | COMMENTS: None Yet

The UFC and WEC have previously invaded Columbus, Ohio from 2007-2010 to take advantage of the crowd brought into the city for the Arnold’s Classic. Zuffa has decided to abandon the spot this year to focus on worldwide expansion, but there could still be some MMA on display for the fans who attend the festival. Strikeforce president Scott Coker said that his organization is a prime candidate to put on a show in March during the Arnold’s weekend. “We’re in talks with the (Arnold) organizations,” said Coker,. “We think it could be a good fit for us I’d say it’s much [...]

Dana White Paid Nam Phan His Win Bonus

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Some good news has come out of the criminal robbery of Nam Phan thanks to the judges at The Ultimate Fighter finale this weekend. Cindy O on The UG has stated that UFC president Dana White — who believed Nam Phan won the fight like every educated mixed martial arts fan — paid Nam Phan his win bonus for the night. It is a great gesture from White and shows that while he may be a bit brash at times, he does take good care of his fighters and gives them the bonuses that they deserve. Nam Phan confirmed the [...]

Joe Rogan Unleashes On Keith Kizer & MMA Judges

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Following the highly controversial and downright awful decision made in the Leonard Garcia vs. Nam Phan fight at The Ultimate Fighter Finale, UFC commentator Joe Rogan had some harsh words for Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer and the idiot judges that are ringside during MMA bouts. In the middle of the Rick Story vs. Johny Hendricks bout, Rogan went on a rant. “I think (Kizer) needs to clean house. There’s a few very good judges surrounded by a bunch of incompetent morons, who know nothing about the sport …. They need to do something about that, because [...]

Dan Henderson scored a vicious knockout victory against Babalu Sobral last night at Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Sobral. The win was Henderson’s fourth in five fights. It took just under two minutes for the mixed martial arts veteran to land the devastating blows that put Sobral to sleep. Following the bout, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker told ESPN that he planned to give Henderson a shot at current Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante a bout against Henderson for March. “The nice thing is we’re going to have a fight every months the first six months of 2011,” Coker said. “There’s [...]

Strikeforce Delivers Three Straight First-Round KOs

AUTHOR: | IN: Strikeforce | COMMENTS: None Yet

Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu started off with a one-sided decision in favor of Ovince St. Preux as he destroyed Benji Radach. After that bout, things started to get interesting. In the night’s second bout, Antonio Silva had a forty pound advantage over his opponent but found himself in early trouble. His gigantic chin seemed to have paid off as he weathered the storm from Mike Kyle on way to a second-round TKO. After this fight things went from interesting to incredible. The final three fights on the card blended epic violence with beautiful knockouts. Paul Daley sent Scott Smith face [...]

Plain & Simple: Nam Phan Got Screwed

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

In The Ultimate Fighter Finale’s opening bout, Adalaide Byrd and Tony Weeks showed the world what is wrong with mixed martial arts… the judging. It was one of the worst decisions I can recall witnessing as Nam Phan got screwed out of a victory as the judges handed split-decision king Leonard Garcia an early Christmas present. There was no question amongst those who have a brain that Nam Phan dominated the fight. He had Garcia badly hurt in round two and continuously was landing crisp punches as Garcia was swinging for the fences and missing. Fight Metric released their report [...]

Chael Sonnen has defied all of the odds. Sonnen will be able to return to action in February — there goes the Silva – GSP superfight.
