Junior Dos Santos, UFC heavyweight contender and coach on season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter, was recently on the Portugese language show UFC Sem Limites alongside referee Mario Yamasaki and former light heavyweight champion Shogun Rua.
Dos Santos and the panel discussed a variety of topics concerning the world of mixed martial arts, including the subject of performance enhancing drugs, which came up when discussing fellow Brazilian Thiago Silva. Dos Santos had some surprising comments regarding the issue.
“No I’ve never seen (someone taking performance-enhancing drugs, but I think at Heavyweight that happens a lot for sure. When you see people like Alistair Overeem, Brock Lesnar, look at the size of those guys, they’re really big. As Mario (Yamasaki) said, a lot of people use them but a lot of people don’t. I’m someone who has never used (PEDs), I think I came in the good phase of MMA and I’ve never used them.”
How will Dos Santos’ comments be handled by fellow heavyweights in the sport? Will Alistair Overeem and Brock Lesnar take issue with specifically being pointed out? Let your thoughts on the issue be heard in the comments section.
