Bellator Fighting Championships continue to add some serious up-and-coming talent to their roster. The latest addition is former Iowa State wrestler and four-time Division 1 All-American, Tony Johnson Jr.
“Tony is a fighter we have had our eye on for quite some time,” Bellator chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney said in a release. “He’s one of the top heavyweight prospects in the world right now, and will make a great addition to our already impressive heavyweight lineup.”
Johnson, a former King of the Cage heavyweight champion, will make his promotional debut at Bellator 41 on April 16 in Yuma, Arizona.
“I definitely want to be a part of the next Bellator heavyweight tournament,” said Johnson, who’s only loss of his career has come at the hands of top heavyweight prospect Daniel Cormier. “I think it would be a great opportunity for me. It would mean everything to me to become the next Bellator heavyweight champion.”
