Royce Gracie was added to the UFC’s roster a few weeks ago and speculation began that the original UFC tournament winner would be fighting at “UFC: Rio.” Royce confirmed the speculation recently saying that he expected to have a deal finalized within the next week or two. “(UFC Rio) would be the perfect place to do my last fight. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is getting their first UFC event on June 26th with “UFC on Versus 4″ and the event finally has it’s main event. Former middleweight contender Nate Marquardt will be making the drop to 170-pounds and fighting Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. This could be the first time in Johnson’s UFC career that he will not appear to be a full weight class above his opponent. Episode three of “The Ultimate Fighter 13: Team Lesnar vs. Team Dos Santos” airs tonight on Spike TV at 9pm ET. On tonight’s show, Team Lesnar will try to keep their momentum rolling following Chris Cope’s victory last week. Cope rubs a teammate the wrong way this week, while a replacement for Keon Caldwell enters the house. UFC president Dana White has said that former teammates Rashad Evans and Jon Jones will face off against each other some time in September or October. There is no doubt that an unbelievable amount of hype will build as the fight gets closer. Bellator Fighting Championships saw their ratings boost 25 percent for their latest event, Bellator 40. The broadcast brought in 218,000 viewers on MTV2 and became the second most watched event for the organization this season. Bellator 40 was headlined by a welterweight superfight between champion Ben Askren and long-time veteran Nick Thompson. Also featured were two semifinal tournament bouts, which had Jay Hieron and Michael Chandler advancing to the finals of the welterweight and lightweight tournaments. UFC officials have announced the addition of two lightweight bouts to the fight card for ”UFC on Versus 4″ which is scheduled for June 26th in Pittsburgh. Coming to the Steel City will be the always exciting TUF veteran Joe Lauzon, who has won three Submission of the Night and three Fight of the Night awards. He will be facing off against the Wolfslair Academy’s Curt Warburton. The second fight added to the Pittsburgh fight card is a bout between Edward Faaloloto and TUF 12 runner up Michael Johnson. Nick “The Goat” Thompson (38 - 14 - 1) dropped his fourth straight bout this past Saturday at the hands of Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren (8-0). The non-title bout was the headliner for Bellator 40. Thompson was just the latest fighter to fall victim to Askren’s Olympic level wrestling. The UFC veteran could never get it rolling as Askren dominated him for all fifteen minutes. It was not just the latest loss in Thompson’s 53 professional fight career, but it was also the last fight. Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren walked through UFC veteran Nick Thompson at Bellator 40 in a non-title bout this past weekend. The 26-year-old former Olympian revealed after his win that he will finally be making all of the necessary steps to be a full-time mixed martial artist.
