Bellator Fighting Championships continue to add some serious up-and-coming talent to their roster. The latest addition is former Iowa State wrestler and four-time Division 1 All-American, Tony Johnson Jr. “Tony is a fighter we have had our eye on for quite some time,” Bellator chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney said in a release. “He’s one of the top heavyweight prospects in the world right now, and will make a great addition to our already impressive heavyweight lineup.” Johnson, a former King of the Cage heavyweight champion, will make his promotional debut at Bellator 41 on April 16 in Yuma, Arizona. “I [...]

Strikeforce: Diaz vs Daley will take place this weekend live on Showtime. The event features two championship bouts — Nick Diaz vs Paul Daley for the welterweight title and Gilbert Melendez vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri for the lightweight strap. Also on the card is a light heavyweight bout featuring Gegard Mousasi and UFC vet Keith Jardine, as well as another lightweight battle between Lyle Beerbohm and top-ranked lightweight Shinya Aoki. Junior Dos Santos, UFC heavyweight contender and coach on season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter, was recently on the Portugese language show UFC Sem Limites alongside referee Mario Yamasaki and former light heavyweight champion Shogun Rua. Dos Santos and the panel discussed a variety of topics concerning the world of mixed martial arts, including the subject of performance enhancing drugs, which came up when discussing fellow Brazilian Thiago Silva. It had been expected that the 19,000-seat Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh would play host to UFC on Versus 4 and UFC officials confirmed the news today. The event will take place on June 26. Pittsburgh beat out Wisconsin and Ohio as possible host sites. Tickets will be going on sale for UFC on Versus 4 on Saturday, April 23rd. Marc Stevens returns to action Friday, April 8th, 2011 at Gruesome MMA, against Charles Mullins. The event takes place at the Pikeville College Gymnasium in Pikeville, Kentucky and features former Strikeforce fighter Billy Vaughn fighting UFC and King of the Cage vet Joe Jordan. Mullins, fighting out of West Virginia. is making his pro debut, after going 9 – 1 as an amateur with all nine fights coming by way of submission.
