The man known as “Big Nog” has been on a long layoff following multiple injuries and infections. Now that he is on his way to full recovery, the legendary heavyweight is hoping for a spot on the UFC’s fight card in Rio as well as a possible rematch with another legend of the sport, Mirko Cro Cop. Mark Hominick showed a lot of guts in his UFC 129 co-main event bout against featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Hominick was dominated for four of the five rounds and suffered one of the worst hematomas I have ever seen. As our friends over at Doc Octagon brilliantly stated, “For a second there, I thought Hominick and his wife were giving birth through his forehead instead of the conventional way.” Now that Hominick has had a few days to recover, he is looking more and more like a human being again. On tonight’s newest episode of The Ultimate Fighter, the final four fighters will enter the octagon in an effort to advance to the next round of the competition. Additionally, the wild cards will be announced. The show airs in the United States at 9pm on Spike TV and at 10pm on Rogers Sportsnet in Canada. Michael Chandler (7-0 MMA, 4-0 BFC) and Patricky “Pitbull” Freire (9-1 MMA, 2-0 BFC) will face off at Bellator 44 to determine who will get the next title shot against current champion Eddie Alvarez. The event will take place at New Jersey’s Caesars Atlantic City. Patricky Pitbull is a the more well-known fighter, but Chandler has quietly been making a name for himself with his exciting fighting style.
