Nate Marquardt and the PED story

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Let me begin by saying that I have been and still am a huge Nate Marquardt fan. When Nate was featured on a UFC Pay Per View, that served as guarantee that I wold be big screen focused, pop corn in hand and full of excitement. I believe that he would have made a HUGE impact on the welterweight division of the UFC. So I both as a fan and ethics professor am saddened by the recent developments. I’ve read countless reports, watched various interviews and considered various PED and TRT regulations. And I have developed some thoughts. First, Testosterone [...]

UFC welterweight Charlie Brenneman turned from hometown favorite to hometown hero last night at UFC on Versus 4 after an impressive victory over Rick Story. Story was originally slated to face top contender Nate Marquardt in the main event, but a last minute shake up had Brenneman taking the fight on one days notice against one of the toughest guys on the UFC’s roster. Brenneman put on a wrestling clinic throughout the three-round war and wound up with the biggest win of his professional career. Mike Constantino, who is Brenneman’s trainer at AMA Fight Club, released a statement regarding his [...]

At UFC on Versus 4 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, headliners Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry put on an unbelievable show. During the fight, Kongo appeared to be knocked unconscious twice before he scored an unbelievable knockout himself. There are really no words to describe what happened during the fight. It was just insane. You have to check it out for yourself.

UFC on Versus 4 Main Card Results: Cheick Kongo vs. Pat Barry

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

The main event for Sunday’s UFC on Versus 4 wasn’t the fight we expected it to be, but it was fireworks nonetheless. It was the single best first round fights and comeback fights I have ever seen in my entire life. Kongo  was tagging Barry before being rocked himself. After going to the ground, he was pounded hard, it looked like he was out on his feet. I thought the fight was seconds from being stopped, before Kongo clipped Barry on the chin before raining down some brutal ground and pound. Pat Barry came into the UFC 3 – 0 [...]

UFC on Versus 4 Main Card Results: Rick Story vs. Charlie Brenneman

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

The co-main event of UFC on Versus 4 featured Rick Story taking on Charlie Brenneman, a short notice fight of the most dramatic kind. With Charlie Brenneman stealing the thunder of Rick “The Horror” Story with a unanimous decision victory. After a weekend filled with shuffle ups (Grant/Brenneman, Marquardt/Story, Story/Brenneman), I am pleased it was such an entertaining fight. “The Spaniard” held his own in the stand up, tagging Story a few times and even putting Rick Story on his back midway through the first. That dominance continued as Brenneman took Story down at will through the second and third. [...]

UFC on Versus 4 Main Card Results: Matt Brown vs. John Howard

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Matt Brown was victorious Sunday night at UFC on Versus 4 by decision, this was the first time in four fights he has heard those words. “The Immortal” kept John Howard at bay with his long reach and dominance on the ground proved to be to much for “Doomsday”. John Howard showed life in the third with a few submission attempts, but it was to little to late as Matt Brown got the nod.   John Howard came into this fight on a two fight losing streak, with losses coming to Thiago Alves and Jake Ellenberger. Howard was supposed [...]

UFC on Versus 4 Facebook Results: Joe Stevenson vs. Javier Vazquez

AUTHOR: | IN: MMA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Javier Vazquez was successful tonight over Joe Stevenson at UFC on Versus 4 with a dominant unanimous decision win. Stevenson started out agressive and was immediately taken to the ground, where much of the first round took place. Joe was going for an arm, the Vazquez ended up on top pounding until the end of the round. The second round had “Showtime” controlling the bulk of the grappling and the stand up, sinking in multiple submission to no avail. Joe went into the third round knowing he was down on the cards and needing a finish, and he started [...]

Joe Lauzon won his return fight on Sunday night again Curt Warburton at UFC on Versus 4. After an even first minute, Lauzon tagged Warburton with a hard power shot. Smelling blood, Lauzon pounced with amazing ground and pound. Not wanting to excert to much energy, Joe switched to a Kimura, forcing Warburton to tap in under two minutes of the first round.   Curt “The War” Warburton fights out of Wolfslair and now has a record of under 1 – 2 the Zuffa banner.
