Rich Attonito had a successful Welterweight debut at UFC on Versus 4 with a unanimous decision victory over Daniel Roberts. Attonito showed superior wrestling and striking power throughout the bout. Daniel Roberts started rounds 1 and 2 off very aggressive attempting submissions, and bewildering Attonito to start. The American Top Team Product, Rich Attonito prevailed in the end, stuffing all takedowns and landing at will with power punches and head kicks. Charles Oliveira and Nik Lentz provided us with our most exciting fight of the night thus far with their back and forth war on the Facebook Preliminary fights. Oliveira started the fight off at a frenetic pace, exchanging leg kicks and crisp combinations. Lentz, after getting caught in several submission attempts, broke free and landed a few off his own. Ricardo Lamas welcomed back returning UFC veteran Matt Grice, in his UFC debut tonight. The Bully saw himself victorious with a TKO at 4:41 of the first round. This was Lamas first fight at Featherweight and he looked great, improved standup and dominance on the ground against a wrestler. Lamas controlled this fight from the beginning. UFC on Versus 4 started of their Facebook stream with a Lightweight battle between Michael Johnson and Edward Faaloloto, with Johnson improving his record to an even 1 – 1. The fight was fairly even with Johnson slightly ahead in most of the exchanges, but the end came at 4:42 of the 1st round with Johnson winning by TKO. The TUF runner up showed great improvment in his stand up game after a six month layoff, and finished Faaloloto with a barrage of knees.   Tyron Woodley is expected to take the place of injured Evangalist ‘Cyborg’ Santos against Paul Daley. The fight, which is slated for July 30th, and could be for a chance to fight for the vacated Strikeforce Welterweight Championship. Daley last for fought for the title against Nick Diaz, while Woodley will take an undefeated 8 – 0 record into the fight.     Bellator just announced that their final Summer Series event on Saturday August 20th would feature a Light Heavyweight bout between Ricco Rodriguez and Seth Petruzelli. Petruzelli won his first fight in April, after being released from the UFC for the 2nd time after going 0 – 2 . Ricco Ridriguez is riding an 11 fight win streak with his last two bouts being at a 215 catchweight. Bellator 48 is headlined by Cole Konrad vs. Paul Buentello and features the finals of the Featherweight tournament. Bellator 48 airs live on MTV2 from the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Dana White announced today via a video on twitter that Nate Marquardt had indeed pulled out of his UFC on Versus 4 main event. He also announced that Marquardt had been released from the world’s leading fight organization. There have been many speculations but no reasons for the release of the former Middleweight.   Breaking News from MMAJunkie on UFC on Versus 4. It appears that Nate Marquardt will need to wait a little longer to make his Welterweight debut. Sources close to the UFC confirm that Marqurdt has indeed pulled out of his main event fight against Rick Story. Reasons were not immediately know, but it was later released that he did not pass his medical clearance. “He was not medically cleared, it is nothing serious.” was the statement from a member of Marquardts management team from Alchemist Management. As MMA continues the transition to being accepted as a mainstream sport, the athletes have began to become more recognizable by the day. Most recently, UFC champions Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre along with Strikeforce heavyweight Fabricio Werdum have been nominated for awards at the 2011 ESPY Awards.
