MAJOR MMA WEEKEND – Three Major Promotions With Cards

The MMA community has alot to look forward to this weekend, with three cards coming from the top three promotions. It all starts June 24th (Friday) with Strikeforce Challengers 16 and continues on the 25th (Saturday) with Bellator 46 and the Featherweight Tournament Quarterfinals. Finally, all the fun dies down on the 26th (Sunday) with the 4th installment of UFC on Versus. Each card has a lot to offer, beginning with the Strikeforce Challengers card. REPORT: Evangelista Cyborg Out of July 30 Fight Vs. Paul Daley

It appears that Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos has suffered a shoulder injury in training and will be forced to withdraw from his scheduled July 30th bout against British slugger Paul Daley, sources close to Cyborg’s camp told MMAprime.tv. The fight, which was scheduled for “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson,” surely would have provided fireworks and the winner would have been one step closer to claiming the Strikeforce welterweight title which was vacated by Nick Diaz — the last man to defeat both Daley and Cyborg. “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” will take place at Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Is Alistair Overeem The Most Overrated Mixed Martial Artist?

Strikeforce and DREAM heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem is looked at as a dominating force in the sport. There is no questioning his physical prowess, but his resume is less than stellar and it leaves a lot to desire. Since winning the DREAM heavyweight title in 2007, Overeem has only defended his title twice. Why is one of the “most dominant heavyweights” not putting his title on the line and facing top competition. Like Fedor Emelianenko, “The Reem” is only hurting himself by not fighting the best.   Krzysztof Soszynski, John Howard, and Rich Attonito all have new opponents due to injuries, as announced by UFC.com. This is the third time for “The Polish Experiment”, as his original opponent, Anthony Perosh, also went down with an injury. It was reported last night that replacement Igor Pokrajac, also went down with an undisclosed injury. Stepping in on 4 days notice is Mike Massenzio, who is coming back to the promotion after being released in August of last year.
