UFC welterweight Chris Lytle ended his MMA career on a high note with a third round submission victory over Dan Hardy at tonight’s UFC Live event. Lytle announced before the bout that it would be his last fight. While Lytle notched the victory, Hardy dropped his fourth straight fight. Veteran lightweight John Gunderson today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Tompkins “didn’t wake up,” but he was still unclear on the details surrounding his passing.Longtime friend and confidant Chris Horodecki said the trainer was in Canada and had spoken to him yesterday but was unaware of the bad news when contacted today. Additional sources ultimately confirmed the trainer’s death with MMAjunkie.com, though details weren’t immediately available.

“I’ve been fighting since ’98, fighting forever, a lot of it is just that I’m not doing my responsibilities like I need to at home,” he said. “I feel like I’m not being the type of dad I want to. As many fans of mixed martial arts are now aware, Zuffa and Team Golden Glory will no longer be doing business. The two sides have had many differences regarding business practices and the issues have led to Strikeforce releasing top fighters Alistair Overeem and Marloes Coenen, while the other Golden Glory fighters — outside of Heavyweight Grand Prix participant Sergei Kharitonov — have also been issued their walking papers. Zuffa has given their side of the story and members of Golden Glory have begun to speak out, but today Bas Boon released a statement to the press about the issue. [...]

He was dubbed “UFC Q&A Hall of Famer” by announcer Mike Goldberg after his brilliant performance in Philadelphia, but it wasn’t Chael Sonnen’s first time at the rodeo. Sonnen was once again hosting the UFC’s Fight Club Q&A and he had another brilliant performance. Perhaps no fighter on the UFC roster is as good of an interview as Sonnen and he put his quick wit on display again.
