MFC 31 will be taking place tonight in Edmonton, Canada and it will be the first time Canadians will be witness to the sports new half point scoring system. Tuning in to the fights on HD Net could also be the first exposure that many MMA fans have to the system. MMA judging has long created controversy and this new system is something that four commissions will be testing and then reporting back to the Association of Boxing Commissions at their annual convention in 2012. Japanese superstar Yoshihiro Akiyama may be having a tough time adjusting to life inside of the octagon, as his 1-3 UFC record would indicate, but that hasn’t stopped him from being the star that he is in his homeland. The man commonly known as “Sexyama” has turned heads once again with his new panty-dropping single entitled “Don’t Forget.” Now, I invite you all to join me with your lighters in the air as we hold hands to complete Sexyama’s magical little Japanese circle and bare witness to one of the greatest cover songs of all time.

Rashad Evans has seen a fight with Jon Jones lined up twice now before injury has derailed both of the potential title fights. First the two were going to fight at UFC 133, but Jones had a hand injury that was said to require surgery and then didn’t. Rashad joked about Jones ducking him at that point, but now Rashad had an injury of his own that has delayed the fight once again. UFC president Dana White just dropped a bombshell to the Twitter universe today by announcing the main event for UFC 140, which will take place in Toronto on December 10th. Light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones will be putting his title on the line, but not against former teammate Rashad Evans like we were all led to believe. Instead, Jones will be facing former champion Lyoto Machida. Machida is coming off of an impressive knockout victory over mixed martial arts legend Randy Couture, while Jones has reeled off five straight impressive victories.

I took a break from Cage Pages for a little while to get another project up and going. With that finally gaining steam, I can now come back and bring my attention back to mixed martial arts and CagePages.com. For the first post back, I sure found a gem. Pound-for-pound king and current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva returned to Brazil but it wasn’t for training.
