What’s Next For Hendo?

Perennial contender Dan Henderson hasn’t fought since UFC 139 and still has no scheduled fight in the works. Who does Henderson fight next?

It seems that Hendo and Dana White aren’t even on the same page with fights. White zigs while Henderson zags. At first it was Henderson was going to wait to fight the winner of Jones-Evans, next it was he was going to fight Machida, but turned it down and now we’re sitting here wondering. Henderson has said he wants to fight, that a Machida fight wasn’t even on the table and he’s willing to fight a heavyweight bout if it’s fan friendly. He’s a fighter that loves to fight especially for the fans. You’ll never see him duck or dodge a fight, but he’s 41 years old.

He has expressed that his only interest in fighting middleweight is for a rematch with Anderson Silva and we all know that would be an interesting bout. In the first fight he was able to take him down before being submitted in the second round, but showed the skills to win. Silva has been susceptible to takedowns which is Hendo’s forte, but that puts him out until at least Mid fall or winter.

Henderson doesn’t want to wait and he shouldn’t have to. The biggest issue is the lack of fights at 205. No matter what bout he wants it seems he will have to wait, but the most interesting fight is him against Jones. He is a proven wrestler and his right hand can put anyone to sleep, ask Michael Bisping. If he’s willing to wait the fight could happen in September or Henderson could get a fight with the Rampage-Bader winner if he comes out of the fight uninjured. A Rampage-Henderson fight would be a rematch of their title bout and would be a war. Although Hendo is waiting in limbo right now this isn’t the end of him. He can compete with the best and a UFC title is lacking from the mantle, whether he waits or fights once more he can get that shot and has a great chance of winning the bout.
