Vitor Belfort has a suggestion for who Chris Weidman’s next opponent should be. Belfort took to twitter to call out Weidman saying,
“Guys I spoke to joe silva and ask to fight with the top contender #weidman here in brasil so I think this is the fight that will credence me to a title fight so that is what happened. I want the belt but I am not desperate I think weidman is the next for the belt, but Anderson silva deserve to see who is next .So let`s make this fight the next #contender belfort vs weidman the next contender for #andersonsilva”
It’s an interesting thought, but Belfort hasn’t fought since UFC 142 and hasn’t defeated elite opponents. He ran through Yoshihiro Akiyama and Anthony Johnson, however, he was forced to pull out of a scheduled bout with Wanderlei Silva.
Weidman had his own thoughts on Belfort’s call out and he took to twitter too.
In my opinion the UFC gives Belfort a fight with Alan Belcher and Weidman has earned his shot at Anderson Silva. We will see in the upcoming weeks how this shakes out.
