Tonight the Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced that they have released six for fighters from the UFC roster.
The fighters include Eddie Mendez, Anthony Smith, Karlos Vemola, Leonard Silva, Nah-Shon Burrell and Roger Hollett.
The real shocking releasing in the recent cuts has to go to Nah-Shon Burrell. Burrell came to the UFC from Strikeforce right before the company went out of business. Burrell made his UFC debut at UFC 157 where he dominated Yuri Villefort for three rounds. The only issue that came Burrell’s way came pre-event at the weigh in’. He weighed in at 175.8 pounds and the fight was set to be a catchweight fight. That must have been strike 1 for the UFC.
Strike two came just two months later at UFC 160 where he received the other side of victory defeat. Burrell lost to Stephen Thompson at the event and instead of a three strikes your out rule Burrell was cut from the promotion.
The young and talented Burrell has a big future ahead of him. He is still a pretty young prospect and could make a impact at another promotion such as Bellator MMA or possibly World Series of Fighting.
