T.J. Grant is out of the Main Event at UFC 164 And Pettis Is In

Yes the title is correct and you are hearing this correctly. T.J. Grant the once #1 contender for Benson Henderson’s Lightweight title has pulled out of the UFC 164 fight card citing a undisclosed injury and the hometown kid at UFC 164 Showtime Anthony Pettis is in.

This is coming to a complete shock to the MMA world. T.J. Grant originally won his chance at the title after defeating Gray Maynard at UFC 160. After the event Anthony Pettis who pulled out of his Featherweight title fight at UFC 162 against Jose Aldo stated that he wants to have a fight against Benson Henderson at UFC 164 saying that he will be in his hometown and want’s the fight.

Anthony Pettis is getting his match this coming August. The last time that Pettis and Benson Henderson faced off against each other was back in the glory days of the WEC where these two fighters laid it all on the line in the final event for the promotion at WEC 53. At the event Pettis secured the victory by showing off his highlight reel kick called “The Showtime Kick” which did then WEC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson in and giving a new WEC Lightweight Champion in Showtime Anthony Pettis.
