Felice Herrig to make Muay Thai comeback

Felice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig (9-4 MMA) and Amanda “Red Fox” LaVoy (2-5 MMA) are no strangers to each other.

The two previously clashed in 2010, when Herrig submitted LaVoy with an armbar in the first round. Recently the two have been engaged in a war of words on Twitter. All of the trash talking will come to ahead when Herrig faces LaVoy in the main event at XFO: Outdoor War 9, Aug. 10.

It’s easy to see why the Lil’ Bulldog has the advantage when it comes to the fight. Prior to competing in MMA, Herrig had an impressive run as a kickboxer, winning over 20 of her fights and capturing several championships. The fight is also taking place in Lake Island Ill., which is not too far from Herrig’s hometown of Buffalo Grove, which means the Lil’ Bulldog will surely have the crowd at her side.

Another factor is that LaVoy has not fought since she lost to Tandi Schaeffer (2-0) by decision, back in 2011. The time away from action may give her a chance to heal from lingering injuries.

Although she has accumulated an impressive run in MMA so far, a win could lead to a comeback for Herrig in kickboxing, but would not have to be full-time. Fighters like Tecia Torres (3-0) and Joanne Calderwood (7-0) have talked about competing in Muay Thai while simultaneously fighting in mixed martial arts.

For fans who cannot wait for the action, they should log into Twitter and follow the back and forth banter Lil’ Bulldog and the Red Fox.
