Canadian fighter Jessica Rakoczy was not like other contestants who came onto the set of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
While most of the contestants came in with fight resumes that sported world championships and impressive winning streaks, Rakoczy was 1-3 with one no-contest when she entered the show.
Yet that did not seem to matter as Rakoczy submitted Revelina Berto in the elimination fight to get into the house. For the fighter from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, being on TUF is a rebirth for her mixed martial arts career.
Rakoczy made her MMA debut back in 2000 at the first Tachi Palace Fights event. She lost to Michelle Ould in the second round by knockout. She would lose her next two fights to Zolia Frausto Gurgel and Felice Herrig.
In 2010 she defeated Jennifer Scott by TKO. Unfortunately, the Nevada State Athletic Commission would overturn the victory after Rakoczy tested positive for banned painkillers in a post-fight drug test, according to a report by MMAJunkie.com.
After taking a year off, Rakoczy would defeat Kristen Gatz at Tachi Palace Fights 14 after scoring a knockout in the first round.
What also makes Rakoczy unlike other TUF contestants is her impressive boxing background. She first stepped into the ring back in 2000 and has racked up 31 and captured several world championships. She is the current WIBA Super Bantamweight champion.
After Rakoczy had defeated Berto to make it into the house, TUF coach Ronda Rousey selected her as her fourth pick on the women’s side.
Rakoczy has all of the tools to make it to the finals of the competition.
Although Shayna Baszler and Julianna Pena were selected to fight on the second episode, fans may not have to wait long have to wait to see Rakoczy step into the cage.
