Two TUF contestants will meet in a trilogy of sorts at the TUF: 18 finale, Nov. 30.

Former lightweight title contenders Gray “The Bully” Maynard and Nate Diaz will meet inside of the octagon for a third time. I say “of sorts” because their first encounter is not an official MMA fight, but rather an exhibition match that took place in the semi-finals of TUF 5, back in 2007. Diaz defeated Maynard by decision, and then would go on to win the TUF 5 competition. It would be three years later when The Bully would avenge his loss to Diaz, via split-decision

Even though it has been a couple of years since they faced each other, this rematch between these two warriors will add some excitement to the TUF 18 finale.

There is no doubt that Maynard and Diaz will looking to make a statement as both fighters are coming into the rematch after devastating losses. Maynard was on the receiving end of a first-round finish to TJ Grant back at UFC 160 while Diaz was beaten by former Strikeforce Lightweight champion Josh Thomson.

One interesting factor about this fight is Diaz’s recent changes in training. He was recently spotted working out with Duane Ludwig and Team Alpha Male. Since becoming the head trainer of Team Alpha Male, Ludwig has helped the gym’s fighters earn a lot of success. Whether or not this is a permanent change for Diaz, his time at Team Alpha Male will help him in his next fight, as well as any future matches.
