Getting released happens to the best of fighters, even to one who is the son of a Hall of Famer.

Strikeforce veteran Ryan Couture, son of former champion Randy Couture, has been released by the UFC after back to back losses against Ross Pearson and Al Iaquinta.

Prior to joining the UFC’s ranks, Couture accumulated a 6-1 record in Strikeforce that included a split-decision victory over Elite XC champion K.J. Noons.

Although many fans are not surprised to see Ryan Couture cut from the UFC roster, especially with him coming from Strikeforce and the burning of the bridges between Dana White and Randy Couture, though White has more or less said that the son will not pay for the sins of the father.

This split from the UFC could be a good thing for Ryan Couture. If he fights at a smaller promotion, it could give him the experience and practice he needs to move up in competition. He could also forgo the smaller promotions and get a shot with Bellator in the future.

Whatever the case, only Ryan Couture can determine his future. If he racks up a few impressive wins outside the UFC, there is a chance fans could see him back in the octagon someday.
