The UFC on Fox card in December keeps getting better.
UFC announced that Jamie “C-4″ Varner will take on Pat “Bam Bam” Healy, Dec. 14. This fight will make a great addition to what already appears to be a stacked card that is headlined with the UFC Lightweight title match between champion Anthony Pettis and challenger Josh Thomson.
Although both fighters are coming in off of decision losses, Varner and Healy know how to put on a show for fans. Both fighters have earned “Fight of the Night” bonuses, though Healy’s match against Jim Miller was later ruled a no contest.
Varner is looking to redeem himself from his loss against Gleison Tibau while Healy will also be looking for that first UFC win, which could make him more dangerous in this fight.
On paper Healy appears to have the advantage when it comes to grappling and submissions, which could be trouble for Varner, who has lost four of his fights by submission. Bam Bam also appears to have a slight advantage when it comes to experience though both men have fought several well-known opponents.
A win for either man will surely put them on the path toward a UFC title shot.
