Jessica Eye takes big leap in her career

In the span of one night, Jessica “Evil” Eye went from being the No. 1 women’s 125-pound fighter, to a top 10 women’s 135-pound fighter.

Eye made her UFC debut against former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight champion Sarah Kaufman, who was also stepping into the octagon for the first time in her career.

The fight itself was a classic battle-torn veteran against a rising star. Both fighters looked great in their stand up and gave the fans one heck of a show.

Despite Kaufman landing more strikes and dominating the clinch, Eye’s quick strikes and damage, earned her the split-decision. Whether or not fans believed Eye won the fight, there is no question that she belongs in the UFC.

With this win over Kaufman, Eye has to at least move into the top 10 rankings. Not only is Kaufman one of the most dangerous fighters in the women’s 135-pound weight class, but also she has the best striking, and for Eye to keep the fight standing the entire time, shows she can hang with the best bantamweight fighters in the world.

Although she lost the match, Kaufman was also impressive in her UFC debut. Eye may have the quicker hands, but there is no denying that Kaufman is one of the best power punchers in the women’s bantamweight division.

Personally, I would like to see these two fight again in the near future.
