Wanderlei Silva, Chael Sonnen to coach “The Ultimate Fighter Brazil”

Fans who have patiently waited to see Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen clash will get their wish granted … sort of.

UFC officials announced that Silva and Sonnen would coach opposite of each other on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3.” As with almost every season of “TUF,” the two opposing coaches will fight each other inside of the octagon; however there has been no official word on when Sonnen and Silva will have their coaches fight. With “The Oregon Gangster” slated to face Rashad Evans at UFC 167, the fight will most likely happen in 2014.

With Sonnen’s comments about Brazil over the years. it will be interesting to see how Brazilian fighters take to his coaching, or if they will even want to be a part of his team. Still, he proved himself to be a good mentor and coach to younger fighters when he coached “TUF” against Jon Jones earlier this year.

Silva will also bring good coaching experience to the show. Besides operating his Wandi Fight Team gym in Las Vegas, he also coached against Vitor Belfort on the first “TUF: Brazil.”

There will be no doubt the show will have its tense and entertaining moments between the two coaches. With the verbal jabs between the two over the years, this rivalry could surpass that of the legendary feud between Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz, or the more current Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate.
