It might an understatement to say that the UFC’s 20th Anniversary show, known as UFC 167, made headlines.

From the successful debut of Sergio Pettis to Rashad Evans finishing Chael Sonnen, the card had numerous exciting moments, but the fight between UFC Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and challenger Johny “Bigg Rigg” Hendricks and the split-decision heard around the world takes the cake.

St-Pierre narrowly escaped with his championship. While it was no question that a rematch between him and Hendricks will be on the horizon, the champion declared that he would like to “take some time off.”

I am of the masses that believe that St-Pierre should either give Bigg Rigg a rematch or drop the title so the UFC can give to Hendricks, who had clearly won the fight. UFC President Dana White said he and co-owner Lorenzo Ferttita have been speaking to St-Pierre.

Although the champion plans on taking a break from fighting, I think the UFC will convince him to fight Hendricks first. Whether it is offering some kind of bonus or incentives or giving St-Pierre a pep talk about what it means to be a champion, St-Pierre will come back and face Hendricks at some point in 2014.

Are you kidding me? The guy (GSP) said he had personal issues and needs to step away. His health and wellbeing is more important than this rematch. Give Hendricks the title (most likely by fighting #2 contender) then GSP can fight again IF he comes back. Personally i think he is finished. He has no incentive to keep going especially since his super fight with Silva is down the drain.

Personally, I had GSP 3-2 but I can see where people that had Hendricks 3-2 come from. I have to rewatch the fight though to make a second assessment.
