Former Bellator Bantamweight champion Zach “Fun Size” Makovsky will be looking to make a successful return to a large stage as he faces Scott “Young Guns” Jorgensen at UFC on Fox 9, Dec. 14.
Jorgensen, a former WEC Bantamweight title contender, was originally supposed to face Ian McCall and then “TUF 14“ winner John Dodson. Young Guns has gone 1-3 in his last four fights.
In addition to coming into the fight on short notice, the Fun Size fighter is currently on a two-fight winning streak. In his last fight he defeated Matt Manzanares to capture the RFA Flyweight championship. During his run in Bellator, Makovsky compiled a 6-2 record that including winning the promotion’s Season Three Bantamweight tournament and becoming the promotion’s first bantamweight title holder.
This could be an interesting scrap on the ground. Both Jorgensen and Makovsky are both NCAA Division I wrestlers and have a combined 11 submission wins on their record.
Although a win over a former Bellator champion may not get him back to contender status, Jorgensen would certainly save his spot on the UFC roster if he defeated Makovsky.
As for Fun Size, a victory over an established star like Young Guns would be the thing he needs to prove that he does deserve to stand in the same cage as the best fighters in the world.
