UFC welcomes women’s 115-pound fighters to “The Ultimate Fighter”

In the last month, the UFC announced its intentions to start a women’s 115-pound division.

Today, UFC officials welcomed 11 Invicta FC fighters to their ranks. Among the newest additions to the largest MMA organization in the world include: Invicta FC Strawweight champion Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza, Felice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig, Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres, “Rowdy” Bec Hyatt, Rose “Thug” Namajunas, Claudia Gadelha, Juliana Lima, Joanne “JoJo” Calderwood, Emily Kagan, Paige “12 Gague” VanZant and Alex “Astro Girl” Chambers

To say the UFC will have a stacked 115-pound division might be an understatement as every one of these fighters have made a name for themselves in mixed martial arts.

However this is only half of the announcement.

According to the UFC’s Twitter, all of these fighters will compete in the 20th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and the winner will be crowned the first UFC Women’s Strawweight champion. While established stars like Esparza, Herrig and Gadelha could be early favorites, “TUF” has shown us that newcomers and – even combatants who have than stellar records – can make it to the finals of the competition.

However the winner of this competition may not even be the 11 fighters listed. According to a statement from the UFC, there will be tryouts to fill the five open spots on “TUF 20“ held in 2014. The coaches for this season of the show will be determined at a later date.
